This movie was shown in the church a few months ago but many missed it or would like to see it again on the larger screen. You may bring something to share and join in the dinner or come later for the movie.  You also may bring your own chair if that might be more comfortable for you.  We also welcome any help setting up and taking down if you are able.

Bible Study Fall 2019
"Come and See": The Rise and Fall of Ancient Israel

Thursdays 9:30-11:30 am & 7:00-9:00pm
Stating Thursday, September 26
At St. Hedwig Church

Description

Catholic Bible study that chronicles the experience of God’s Chosen people. The authors’ commentary guides you through the Old Testament books of Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Hosea, Amos, and Obadiah and explains the history and spiritual lessons recorded in these books of Sacred Scripture. This study uses inductive and deductive learning, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the writings of popes and saints to unlock an ancient treasure and show its current application.  The Come and See Catholic Bible Study series presents the rich heritage of the Catholic faith in clear and simple language.

Since 1978, have studied most of the books from the Old Testament and all the books in the New Testament.

History Of St. Hedwig Bible Study

St. Hedwig Bible study was founded in October 1978.  We have seen many changes over the years — but the purpose has always been the same: that all Catholics would be enabled to discover the richness of the Scriptures through study in a safe environment for our faith. At present we are using materials from Emmaus Road Publishing and have used different studies from Ascension Press in prior years.  In the early years, there were no Catholic Bible Studies available so we developed our own program easily understood for Catholics.  Many of our parishioners here at St. Hedwig plus participants from other parishes and non-Catholic churches have attended.  We have studied most books from the Old Testament and all the Books of the New over the past 41 years.  We look forward to beginning our 42nd year in September 2019 as we study our new publication from the Come and See series: The Rise and Fall of Ancient Israel.  The study is divided into several segments: Opening prayer — a DVD from the publisher featuring one or more of the authors of this book — personal sharing from a leader — followed by pre-arranged sharing groups led by one of our dedicated leaders.  The workbook has a commentary, home study and questions to answer — these will be the basis of the sharing groups.  No one is compelled to speak or share at any time.  Care will be taken to also prevent any one person from dominating the sharing group.  The leaders have previously come together and shared with each other and therefore will not be participating in the discussion unless there are questions to be addressed. God is the Author of this BOOK and we can fully trust that He is able to open our hearts and our minds to understand His Word
— most especially since The word of God is living and active, sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of
joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the
heart.   [Hebrews 4:12]
