Meeting
Days and Times
St. Hedwig offers two sessions on Thursdays, one at 9:30 a.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m.
St. Polycarp meets on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Mission Statement
Since 1978 our desire
has been and is for Catholics to become 'Biblically literate' – not only
understanding the meaning of Biblical passages but being able to apply the
principles into one’s daily and personal life.
Structure
Our Bible study is divided
into two parts. The first and probably the most essential is the work done at
home. It is vital for the sake of understanding and applying the Biblical truths
to spend some time each day during the week studying the assigned texts,
answering the study guide questions and contemplating the personal meaning the
Scripture has for you.
The second part of the Study
is the weekly group discussion. We meet every Thursday with your choice of
either morning or evening session. Each class begins with music, prayer and a
brief personal reflection by our parochial vicar, Fr. Martin. Following this we
divide into prearranged groups where a leader facilitates discussion and the
sharing of personal insights on the questions completed during the week. The
groups then get back together for personal sharing and comments by Carol
Meckler.

Fellowship
We encourage
fellowship--sharing time with one another. This can be done either before or
after class each week, or at planned get-togethers. We plan Christmas potlucks
for both morning and evening sessions [independent] and an ‘end-of-the-year’
combined potluck – joining morning and evening sessions with the members of St.
Polycarp Bible Study. Each member of the Bible Study is encouraged to become
actively involved in prayer for one another.
Support
St. Hedwig Bible
Study does not draw financial support from our parish. Through weekly donations
from our members we purchase all the necessary materials and pay for printing
and/or any other incurred expenses. Every leader and helper in St. Hedwig Bible
Study is voluntarily serving this community with a sense of devotion and
joy—grateful for the privilege of serving our Lord Jesus Christ. With Paul we
are also able to say...
"(We
are) confident of this, that the One who began a good work among you
will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ...And this is
(our) prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge
and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the
day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the
harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory
and praise of God."
Phil 1:6,9-11
