SRE - School of SRE
School of Religious Education
Grades 1-8
Religious education instruction is offered in the following formats:
- Classes for grades 1-5 meet on Wednesday only from 4-5:30 pm in the classrooms.
- Grades 6, 7, & 8 small groups meet in homes on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 7-8:30 pm.
- Family Home Study offers material and support for families whose children are unable to attend scheduled class instruction. Students and their families are placed in clusters of four families to support each other in following the assigned student text assignments. These clusters will meet four times per year on their chosen day and time at the Family Catechesis Events. All other instruction and gatherings are flexible and decided upon in the individual family clusters the students/families have been assigned to.
As cyber space technology continues to be a challenge, SRE registration packets will be available in a hard copy form only for this coming school year. In the past, we have offered online registration and found that the forms coming back to the FLM Office involved extra time and effort from the administrative staff to organize all of the vital information needed in the SRE registration process.
All classroom spaces are on a first come first served basis. The SRE Family Registration Fee of $150 provides religious education classes and home study programs for children in grades 1-8 and the Sunday School program, per registered household. Family Catechesis Events, First Communion Preparation and other community building events enhancing the ongoing faith formation experience in this parish are also supported by this fee.
Families will not be denied participation due to financial hardship.
Contact the FLM Office at (562) 296-9040 for information on special payment arrangements or payment waivers.
