Music Ministry
“God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.”

Music Ministry first of all, serves. It serves the gathered community at prayer, allowing the community to actively participate in the Liturgy.
The most beautiful sound to a music minister is the sound of the assembly joined together in song and, consequently, in prayer. Participation in that prayer is made more alive when our voices, our ears, our bodies, our minds, our hearts are fully engaged in worship and praise, in sorrow and grief, in justice and mercy.
The singing assembly shares life-breath and becomes one through the action of singing brought to ultimate fulfillment in the Eucharist. The liturgy constantly brings us to community. We are not individuals, worshiping our Triune God alone, but rather are all parts of the one, the common union, the communion. Our individual-ness is brought to the community and made part of the community, and in that sharing, the community, and each of us, is made richer.
Those who serve St. Hedwig as Music Ministers are as varied and diverse as is the community. Some are professionals – those who have studied and honed their gifts and talents and are called to share and serve. Others volunteer to share their time, talent, and the treasure of themselves in a Choir or Ensemble. Still others come from the community and share their talents with specific instruments, using their gifts to make even more beautiful the church in the action of the Liturgy. Regardless of the gift or level of training, the call to serve is what motivates, what calls each one of us to place ourselves at the service of the people of God.
This call to serve is given only by God – found where “God dwells within each human person”. If you have heard God call you to serve in Music Ministry or any other ministry, don’t hesitate – do. Do take action. God is persistent and loving. He will bring you back around to where He wants you to serve. If that place is in Music Ministry, check out the Choirs and Ensembles and opportunities on this website, then contact the Music Ministry Office today.
